The Basics

What is a psychiatric evaluation?

A psychiatric evaluation is the first step in understanding what you're going through and how we can help. It's a thoughtful, in-depth conversation with your provider about your symptoms, personal history, stressors, and goals.

The goal is to gain clarity, answer your questions, and develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs — whether that includes medication, therapy recommendations, or other treatment options.

What is GeneSight testing?

GeneSight is an optional genetic test that can help take the guesswork out of choosing psychiatric medications. Using a simple cheek swab, the test looks at how your body may process certain mental-health medications.

This information helps your provider make more informed decisions — potentially improving effectiveness and reducing side effects when treating conditions such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, and bipolar disorder.
